The Project
A colocation data centre developer required a complete 11kV high-voltage switchgear package — from design coordination through to energisation — for a 5MW facility operating to IEC 62271 and a contractual uptime SLA that allowed no commissioning overruns.
IEC 62271 Design Coordination
High-voltage switchgear design for a colocation data centre is a multi-party discipline. Con-Tec coordinated directly with the structural engineer, HV panel manufacturer and the DNO protection engineer to produce a design that passed the distribution network operator's protection review first time.
Energisation Under SLA
Energisation of an HV switchgear installation in a live colocation environment — where tenants are already occupying part of the building — requires meticulous coordination of isolation, testing and re-energisation sequences. Our HV authorised persons managed the full LV isolation regime to allow HV works to proceed without impacting any live tenant circuits.
